tips for Search Engine Optimization from Google itself

In my quest to optimize my blog I came accross this SEO movie. It is over 1 hour of media, but worth it if you want to get some on optimizing your blog or site.

If you do not feel like watching the video, take a look at what Stephan Spencer wrote on CNET.

preparing for socialMedia training I need to give

In a few weeks time I need to give a training to the teachers and staff at our Institute. For most of them it will be the first time they get in (conscious) contact with social media and the possibilities it offers.

Because of the differences in knowledge on this topic, I am trying to find an easy access to start the training. Get them motivated to learn and jump into the social media water.

I found this one and it seems to hit the spot: getting people thinking about the future.

Thank you to walkinggal for putting me on this track.

thinking strategically about my blog

With the (indirect) help of Darren Rowse and his 31 days to Building a Better Blog, I will jump into my blog analyse it and get some strategy in it.

I have started making a mindmap of what I want to restructure and I look forward to the complete mindmap. The idea is that with that easy template I will be able to look for flaws in my blog and mend them more easily. Once the mindmap is finished in its draft version, I will post it and try to get some extra input.

Corporate Learning: Trends and Innovations

George Siemens is organizing an online conference on corporate learning. The conference will begin on 15 November and last untill the 20 November 2007.

Looking forward to it. The conference wiki is already in progress.

rethinking my blog: work sheet

Today I start with the dreaded 'rethinking of my blog' exercise. I was putting it off, could not stop thinking about it and ... well, there is a lot of room for improvement so I am starting it today.

Procrastination demands that I first google possible strategies or frameworks I could use:
be a more productive blogger/
or immersing myself in Building a Better blog
or why not stick to the thing I strive for? better karma: 10 ways to improve your blog karma

No matter how much I procrastinate, I will have to dive into it.

Things I will be working on:
- making a writer schedule;
- thinking in the long-term with blog posts;
- my info needs to be easier to access;
- structure, structure, structure!!!

Add-ons for Firefox (anything that can enhance posts):
post-wisdom (helps with checking post necessities)

vodcasting in education2.0 presentation

For the upcoming conference of Online Educa Berlin, I made a presentation on vodcasting in Education2.0. The presentation is based on a pilot project that ITM is running with international students this year.

The project is quite challenging because of the multimedia and technological demands, but if we can launch a couple of students into really making use of vodcasting, then it would add to the capacity building once they go back to their home countries.

enlightening conference

What a wonderful conference it was in Fredericton, New Brunswick on mobile learning. Government, universities and research centers were represented and attended. It was a real treed to be able to speak in front of such an enlightened audience. The speakers were the cream of the crop on mobile learning: John Traxler, Steve Wexler, Stella Lee, Kevin Harvey and me (me not being cream, just soje).
My presentation focused on mobile learning projects and social media to support the participants in those mobile projects. The audience engaged in the presentation making it an extra interactive moment adding to the exchange of all our knowledge.

Some of the presentations were taped, if interested you can look at them on ustream.tv/ignatia

It got me thinking about possible partnerships and … reshaping my blog – adding presentations, papers and abstracts.
