Indeed, this Everex version does not seem to match up with expectations consumers could have. It certainly would drive my not-so-IT-mom in the drapes, so I will compare a couple of cheap laptops and try to figure out the best buy. Still, good to know that market is inspiring a couple of companies.Inge (Ignatia) de Waardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03170929012404880320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-284297226882099213.post-43376208633305934102008-02-25T03:58:00.000-08:002008-02-25T03:58:00.000-08:00Oops! I was looking at other Everex products where you can select from Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Edubuntu, but The Cloudbook comes with GoS ... which is a Ubuntu based distro.

There seem to be some pretty strong opinions about the CloudBook ... http://gizmodo.com/357078/everex-cloudbook-unboxed-fondled-declared-horrible-so-far
one of the the original distributors is no longer selling them because so many were returned. However they do not say whether this was because of production quality, or usability issues. Here is a more positive review: http://heybaccala.com/tech/its-here-cloudbook/

Regardless, it looks like Everex have a little more work to do before this is ready for the masses!Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15277833618781780981noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-284297226882099213.post-33834847071852113662008-02-25T02:43:00.000-08:002008-02-25T02:43:00.000-08:00waw Rob, thank you for this usefull tip. They retail for $399 in the US, but I am still waiting for them to appear here in Japan.

Cheers!
-RobRobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15277833618781780981noreply@blogger.com
